There are so many different ways that security guards can be useful that you likely don't realize just how many things they get hired for. Once you learn about some of the many reasons security guards are hired by people, businesses, and organizations, you might recognize ways they can be helpful for something you are dealing with or want to avoid dealing with. Here are just a couple of good examples of ways security guards can be helpful: 

Preventing crime in parking lots

A lot of crimes take place in parking lots of all kinds. Whether it's a parking lot in a shopping center or hospital or the parking lot for a concert or another large event, there are risks to the cars parked in the lot as well as to the people walking to and from their cars. Parked cars in crowded parking lots are easy targets for break-ins, vandalism, or car thefts. Criminals can choose a car that is parked away from a building or event that is hidden by other cars and maybe even trees and they can have the time they need to do what they want to the car. 

People walking through parking lots are also easy targets. Criminals can catch someone walking through the parking lot with their purse or shopping bags dangling and grab them right from the person. They can even end up assaulting people for other reasons, such as to beat them up or even to try to assault them in other horrible ways. When security guards patrol parking lots, these things are less likely to happen. Also, when there are security guards, someone who feels worried about walking to their car can ask for the security guard to accompany them to their car to help keep them safe. 

Protecting people after a threat

Many people end up being the victim of threats of violence at some point. In many cases the people being threatened have a good idea that the threats aren't serious and the person won't follow through with them. However, there are also plenty of times when people have reason to believe that the threats are real and their safety is in jeopardy. 

When someone has been threatened and they fear for their safety or the safety of their family, they can find that they don't feel they can do anything safely. They may not feel safe in their own home. They can hire a security guard to protect their family and their home. Also, bodyguards can be hired to accompany the family wherever they go until the police are able to find and arrest the person making the threats.
